Your Child’s HQ Course Project: Your super kid will not only learn the art of making a stop-motion movie – they will create superheroes and supervillains with backstories, design their looks, and develop a storyboarded scene to be filmed with sound FX.

Josh, who loves animation, has made tons of short films and an award winning documentary broadcasted on the Sundance Film Channel. A graduate from Vassar College and the Media Studies program at the New School, he founded the after school program JoshSQUASH that taught the sport of squash to hundreds of kids.
In this course, students will create a superhero profile, describing their superhero's backstory, their hero's look, storyboard, and put together ideas into a scene - which they will animate into their own stop-motion movie with sound FX. Students will learn the origins of the paper puppet and the importance of using it as a way to tell stories. In addition, each student will have their own "HQ Superhero Portfolio" that may be further developed in other HQ courses.
